Goodbye Eric Myers Family...A Sad Day!

I sat at my computer crying this morning...why? My sister in law (and her family) are moving away to Washington State. Ever since my brother met Katie, she and I have been close friends and have always enjoyed the time we have spent together. After leaving from her home or mine, a day at the pool or park I always say, "I just love Katie, we just get along so well!", and so it is with a really heavy heart that I have to say "goodbye."

I know she will have a wonderful life in Washington and at some point we will visit her or the other way around, but having to say goodbye for such a long time has become harder than I thought. Katie is such a wonderful woman and a fantastic mom. She makes friends easily and has filled me with laughter many times throughout our jaunts, she loves the church and is willing to serve, is generous (to a fault) :)! Loves her children fiercely and is so wonderful to mine. I just want her to know that she will be missed by my family - we love you too Eric (you have been such a great brother and friend to our family)- but I just want you to know how much fun I have had with your wife - you picked a good one!

Salt Lake 5K

Yesterday I saw one of the most amazing things - My husband ran a 5K. This is amazing because he is just not a runner (as I have trained for half marathons the last few years - he was just never interested)...however, he has participated in numerous bike events. This year he set a goal to do more and complete a 5k and possibly a mini triathlon. It was so fun to be downtown and see all of the excitement as people got ready to race - and when I say people, there were seriously people of all ages. I think I saw kids as young as 6 or 7 and well into their 70's.

As a family we hope to join him in a family 5k this summer. It should be a fete to get our children prepared for this, but a worthy goal! Brett is such a great example of health and exercise for our children (and me too). I am so proud of his continuous accomplishments in life, his newfound determination for health, and love for his family! He is such a great husband and father - we got lucky!

Cindy and Walt - Is it just our family?

I just have to say that grandparents are wonderful people...and its really hard to share them! Walt and Cindy are full of life, energy, and love for all of us...but EVERY SINGLE time my parents come to town - which is fairly often due to the number of babies, and whatnot that happen- there is some kind of disagreement over where they will stay and when, for how long and who will be hosting the activities or who will be coming to the activities. It can get kind of messy with all kinds of feel bads being hurt and stepped on or broken. How to overcome this and end up with the grandparents at your house with no questions asked or feelings hurt? Well, these are the options so far: Have a baby (we are out on this one and adopting a dog doesn't count:)), have a baptism, bless a baby, need a babysitter for a vacation (but then the adults miss out) or - go to grandma's house (which is her favorite option!), and there could be a few more out there I don't know about - if you know of them, let me in on the secret!

I guess you could say its great that their children and grandchildren love them so much that they just can't bear that Cindy and Walt be in town and NOT stay for a few days at each house...whats a family to do with so many children in the same city and just two out of towner grandparents?

Mom and Dad, we love you and we all want to spend time with you - just know that!

Mini Golf/Batting Cages

Colton and I had our date on Friday - he really wanted to hit up the mini golf/batting cages at a local fun center. I have to say that I am way out of practice as far as putting goes. I don't think I could get a good put in to save my life! We had lots of fun and Colton even got a hole in one - pretty impressive for those crazy courses and the things they make you do to get it in. He brought his baseball bat and we headed over to the batting cages to get in some hits - he did two rounds of 50 balls - and was pretty tired after all that. On the drive home he was really quiet, so I said, "are you all tired out Colt?" and his response was, "no, i'm saving my energy for basketball." Friday afternoon we also put up our Christmas present from Grandma Cindy and Grandpa - a new basketball hoop. I think everyone in the family was excited - and it has been in constant use ever since!

Bowling with Grandma

Right now, as I sit and try to type this post I have a 3 year old rolling around on the floor saying "mom, mom, mom...are you listening to me?" I respond that I am, and he states, "well, you are not looking at me." This is a regular conversation at our house!

Yesterday for Spring Break, Grandma Deb took all of us bowling and to Happy Donalds for lunch.
Bowling was fun, and cousin Tyler beat the pants off everyone. Even Colton tried to keep up, but Tyler stayed ahead, frame after frame. After playing one game, which was enough, we walked over to lunch. We enjoyed talking and the kids played and chatted. Thanks Grandma Deb for a fun morning!
