Bambi VS Alex

Yesterday Alex and I were watching a few Toonies and an add for the "new" Blu Ray copy of Bambi was coming out. Alex has never seen Bambi, but likes the Fox and the Hound so here is how our conversation went...

Me: Alex would you like to see that movie about that baby deer and his friends?
Alex: No
Me: Why? I think it would be really cute, and the animals talk to each other.
Alex: Deers are afraid of me
Me: No, Deers are not afraid of you, why would you think that?
Alex: Because I get my guns and shoot them
Me: We do not shoot deers!

Bambi was the first movie that I remember crying in, full on tears and the suck ups...so this was a horrifying statement for my youngest to make. It makes me think we should get rid of the guns and just play swords...until there is something I love too much to sword!
Where did I get this kid? We don't hunt nor have we ever talked about or watched movies about hunting...

Kids - Now I Get It...

I have always maintained that a husband, 3 kids and 1 dog are enough for me, and they are - really.

As many of you know, I currently have a full day with my 3 1/2 year old and the 2 1/2 and 14 month old I babysit...well, today I took on one more and discovered why people who have small children keep having more children...the more the merrier. One more did not make one bit of difference. I was actually kind of surprised, because I thought today might be the day that I lost my mind - with 4 children all under the age of 4! It was, well, not EASY, but doable. I even managed to do a few loads of laundry, pre prepare dinner and make 2 loaves of banana bread! (Yes, I am patting myself on the back)!

Right now, two are sleeping and two are making each other giggle in the front room and I am enjoying listening to their little giggles and trying to catch up on some news and blogging. Don't think I am reconsidering, I just get it now...and more is kind of merrier. They play so cute together and almost entertain each other - but it may be different because I know that most of the kiddos here now will go home at 5:30 and the evening is all MINE!

Very Non Photogenic

So, I do not post very many photos of myself...I am just not a great casual picture taker. It takes alot of planning and such to make for a good photo for me, so I usually am the one with the camera taking all of the shots. Sunday afternoon it was beautiful (breezy and 60) and I admit that we got a touch of Spring Fever, so Dad, Alex and I went over to Wheeler Farm. Dad had control of the camera, and took this really cute pic of me and our littlest one...
Here are some of the others from the afternoon...

Happy Valentines Day

Valentine's is a day to express your feelings and renew the bond of love you share with your loved ones. I am so lucky today...because I have a home full of love! I have the most amazing husband who in turn is the best father! I love that he makes our home a safe haven of love, loyalty and warmth. I could not imagine a better Valentine than my husband...thanks husband for being one of the best parts of life...its better than I could have dreamed!

We were able to steal a few hours away just us, and I have to say it was WONDERFUL! Dinner, shopping, walking through downtown and lounging around the house without a care in the world - it was a much needed weekend (thanks Grandma Deb and Grandpa)!

Wishing happiness and love to all of our friends and family on this day!

Potty Mouth

Recently Alex has found great joy in talking and singing about all things gross and nasty. It has become a new found adventure to see what things he can relate to his love of bathroom humor. Neither of my other two children found this kind of humor to be funny or appropriate, but now find it extremely amusing to egg Alex on. Here are some of the goings on or things said in the last few weeks - and yes, I feel I have to blog about it so it is not forgotten in years to come.

Colton has taught Alex how to "fart" with his armpit - Alex thinks this is funny and makes additional noises as he does this.

The kids make "fart" noises to amuse Alex and make him laugh.

Alex tells people that their breath stinks like "farts".

Alex thinks its great to talk about and tell people about the different kinds and sizes of poop...use your imagination.

Alex says that Roxy stinks like "farts", which is kind of true:)

Alex told me last night that the spaghetti we were eating smells like poop.

Alex says that any unidentified object on the floor, sidewalk or carpet "must be poop".

Alex sings songs about "tooters", "farts" and "poop".

I could go on, but I don't want to gross you out too much. I am just amazed, because we really don't talk about this in our house and we really do try to discourage the older kids from making a joke out of this...but I do hope it ends soon, because it is really embarrassing when you have a toddler telling people that they stink like poop or their breath smells like farts!

Cough, Cough,

This about sums up our home lately...I feel so germ infested! Between cool mist, all the coughing, nose blowing, etc...it just seems like germ central. Alex and I have had a sore throat and cough, Brett just got over a sore throat, and McKaleigh came up this morning with a sore throat! Tis the season, is what i've been told, and if that is the case...I AM READY FOR SPRING!
