Coachella Anniversary 2016

So, we survived another anniversary at Coachella...Our 10th to be exact!  It was just as wonderful as it always is.  I am so glad that we've made this a yearly vacation/anniversary trip.  We don't have to think about gifts, years, dinners etc... We just sit out in the sun, people watch (which is amazing) and enjoy good music from noon- 2:30a.m. for 3 fun nights!

Compared to the weather we left behind in SLC, the desert was wonderful!
We listened to some pretty great music, but my FAVORITE was Silversun Pickups.  They put on such a great show.  We see them every time they come to SLC, but I never get tired of watching them!  Even after it was over, I wanted more!
The desert sky is so beautiful at night with all of the palm trees and the setting sun in the distance.
And this happened...Aaron Paul (from Breaking Bad) walked through the gate with us!

So excited for another year to roll around!  Although you walk into a blind lineup, it never disappoints!

Super Long Spring Break Post

We had the BEST time this year over Spring Break!  There were lots of firsts for everyone!  We got to break in our new trailer (best purchase ever) at a place none of us had ever been - Sand Hollow State Park.  It was a wonderful weekend - So great, that we tried to extend our stay, but alas - it was all booked up!  Here are the memories we made...

The first day, after arriving and figuring out what needed to be done with the trailer, we explored the area.  We found some pretty great fishing places, but we don't quite have that down yet.  Our lines got tangled, it was breezy, and getting dark.  The area around Sand Hollow has so many great places - it's really diverse!
The kids casting a few lines out...
The following day we headed out for an adventure that I was quite excited about.  I read quite a few articles about an old abandoned Gypsum mine that kids love to visit.  It's free and you can mine all the rock you want - and trust me...there's plenty to be mined!  Good thing dad come through with a pick ax, a chisel and hammer.
There are millions of crystals left all over the ground you can pick up and take home but, Brett was determined to get a really pristine one right off the mountain.
Success!
Colton trying to get some "clean" ones from a vein running out of the ground. As you can see, many people tried this one, by the trail of crystals leading away from it.  The boys both said that this was definitely one of their all trip highlights.
We spent quite a bit of time on the beach - and when I say beach, I mean it.  The sand was beautiful, red, and super soft!
Not only did we get to test out our new trailer, but also our new kayak and SUP
 Colton getting a free ride!
 Chilling on the sandstone rocks
We also found a little hike that was a family favorite...It had so many sandstone caves, waterfalls and followed a stream.  In warmer weather - there were little pools for swimming and splashing in.

Our time on the lake was wonderful!
As you can see, Alex has mastered the nap and kayak - at the same time!
 And Colton joined him!
Colton and McKaleigh chatting out in the middle of the lake - sibling chillin time!
There were a few afternoons when the weather kicked up and became quite blustery!  That is when we were all so glad we had the trailer.  We came inside, cooked, played games and had a Harry Potter marathon on the t.v.  We had so much fun and are already planning another outing in the near future!
