I was so close to her for this and so many other reasons. I can't remember a winter in my youth that she and my grandfather did not have their RV parked on the side of our house for months at a time, their door was always open to me. On Christmas mornings I would tip toe out to the RV to wake up Grandma and Grandpa to come in for presents. She was the face I would see in the mornings when my mom went to the hospital to give birth, telling me yet again, it was another boy. I spent many Summers at her home picking peas and veggies from her beautiful gardens and playing scrabble. Grandma Judy and Grandpa Dan taught me how to fish, play cards and I spent many an afternoon and evening watching soap operas with her and Cops with grandpa - both appointment t.v. shows. As I grew older and life was more busy I always found time to wander out to the RV and visit or play a game. As a mother, I would often call her to find out how to cook foods she prepared for me as a child, of course brought to the table on her homemade pot holders. I am so lucky that each of my children have a huge puzzle she completed just for them to have in her memory. Grandma Judy lived life on her terms, with a spunky attitude and great sense of humor. I have spent may days in my garden thinking of her and my grandfather in the past and more so in the past few days. I will miss her as she has always been there for me, loved me unconditionally, supported me through my mission, and some of life's tough choices. So, in a way, I feel like I am missing more than a grandmother, but a mother and close friend, but she will really always be with me.

The Passing of a Great Grandmother

Summer Bathroom Project - FINISHED!
Brett and I are pretty avid HGTV watchers. We have seen every remodel and fix it you can find, so when it came time to DIY our bathroom, we thought it would be a simple thing...a few weekends and that would be that - not so. Our demo went really fast, one weekend and the bathroom looked like this.
We were really proud of ourselves! We were cheap labor and worked really well together...it was the rest of the project that made us crazy! Right after this demo Brett was out of town and tied up with work for the better part of 4 weeks - so much for our quickie DIY project (and we were out a bathroom!). But, MANY more weeks later, lots of decisions on color, wood, tiles etc...we were done! Here is the finished project and we couldn't be happier OR less excited about taking on another one!
McKaleigh's Birthday
I am finally getting to post about my eldest's birthday. She is getting so big, so grown up, and having so much fun with life! This year McKaleigh had some of her closest friends over for snacks, movies, gossip, and we had a woman come over and do "Glitter Toes" on the girls. They had a great time and the chatter was nonstop!
Then we had a little family party - all McKaleigh wanted this year was a keyboard and some books to play piano with. She is not sure about lessons (and I don't want to force them on her), but does a great job sight reading!

McKaleigh is officially a "tween". She still really enjoys reading and has my library card filled with her holds for new books. Is a great babysitter and a neighborhood favorite with the younger kids. McKaleigh is a great helper and does most of whatever she is asked to do without any argument, she loves to cook and thumb through recipe books looking for new and creative things to try (kale chips are terrible!). She has spent alot of time looking through our movies, moving on to the pg-13 variety (with our approval!). Karate is still her sport, and she is currently a blue belt, putting in daily practice time, but most of all she would prefer to curl up with a movie (musicals are preferred) or a good book. Our little girl is growing up so fast, she loves going to church, doing the right thing, and I have to say, is quite a "daddy's girl". We can't wait to see what 8th grade and the future hold!
