1st Grade Program

On November 22, Alex had his first grade program.  The first grade classes had been practicing songs all year (which is something Alex is really good at) to sing at this program.  The teachers were very specific about what the kids had to wear(red, white or blue) and that they know their songs really well.  Alex was really worried that he would not have the right color of blue, that I might forget, that I might be late (none of which I have ever been) or that I might single him our for a photo opportunity...We have learned to deal with the fact that he is a very nervous child and try to make him feel as comfortable as possible.  He was really happy to be seated next to one of his best buddies.
They did such a great job with the performance and included a slide show of all of the children's families, which was really fun to watch during their songs.
After the performance he was waiting to go back to class and I was able to snap a quick picture...second row long sleeve navy shirt...cute, you know...

This Is How We Feel...

It seems like we've all been really sick lately!  It all began with Alex and what we thought was a sore throat, runny nose thing...you know how it is.  Then late one night he woke up screaming and didn't stop for 4+ hours.  We later found out that he had a raging ear infection and his ear drum burst, then after a visit to the doctors office and some meds, we experienced the whole thing over again in his other ear.  I was hoping that I would steer clear of the sickness, because as my husband knows, I never get sick!  Then it came, and it came hard - runny nose, chills, and a lingering dry cough that is still hanging around. I was hoping that it would end there, but then McKaleigh go the flu and has been home sick for the last two days and NOW Colton has (what he has self diagnosed as strep throat - from his Health textbook) a sore throat and cough.  Brett has pretty much steered clear of all of the junk, but I think he is trying to hide a bit of a cough and sore throat (I have heard it now and again).  I sure hope that this is it for the winter season.  We are downing Calcium supplements, Emergency C packets, juice, fruit and anything else that might help us along - and it has not even been COLD lately!  I am not sure we are ready for Winter!

Family Fun This Fall

And I thought it was hard keeping the blog updated before I started working...Well, hopefully these posts will not be too few and far between.  Life is good, work is great, the kids are healthy and we are happy!

We have been filling our days and nights with activities, work, school and play.  All of the kids are busy with after school and evening activities (YW/YM, Choir concerts, debate labs and meets, sports, friends and whatever else we can fill in the cracks with).   Busy is good, it makes the time go by so quickly!  Here are a few pics of what we have been doing this fall...

Getting out the Halloween costumes and trying them on, before the final choices are made...

Final choices...McKaleigh was a mime, Colton a karate guy, and Alex was a zombie skeleton.
Loving our weekend family date nights!  Bowling is so fun (and competitive) now that everyone knows how to play!
Hit some corn mazes, got lost, tried to scare each other and had some tasty homemade donuts!  We were all too scared to try a haunted spook house...Except for daddy, but no one wanted to join him.
Have spent many Fall days at Wheeler Farm, feeding the animals, playing frisbee and soccer, and loving the fall colors, hay maze, pumpkin patch and baby animals.
Dad's favorite activity...going shooting.  We took the olders and taught them how to shoot the 9mm and 22.  Colton LOVED it and did pretty well.  McKaleigh broke down in tears...guns are not her cup of tea.  We asked her to go at least through one clip - which she did, and did pretty well!
Now that the weather is getting colder, we are excited for snow and sledding and the activities that Winter brings!
