What's Been Going On?

Well, this is pretty much how I have felt everyday lately! I am trying to get so much done and taken care of before my surgery next week. I will be undergoing, what has been explained as, a minor procedure. Due to my half marathon training, at some point I tore my meniscus and have to have the torn part shaved off. In addition, due to my procrastination of treatment, I will also have to have a small cyst that has developed taken out. This whole process will have me down and crutching about for at least 10 days. I am not even sure what 10 days out of commission will do to our home life! What about all the lessons, scouting, YW, church, primary, school, family activities - not to mention all of the house work - and Brett will be gone during part of this! So, you see, the above picture is a necessity, but maybe I can look forward to a few days in bed after all of this!

Las Vegas Getaway

Over the long UEA weekend, we planned a trip to Las Vegas - it was too short and we did not have near enough time to do what we wanted. Brett and I even tried to extend it just one more day - but I guess when life calls, you have to answer it and we had to come back to the real world.

One of the reasons for going down to Las Vegas was to visit my grandmother, Judy. She lives with my Uncle Mark and her ratty old dog, Rufus - who is blind. The kids really like him because even though he is blind he is still a cuddler and will fetch anything you throw. Here are the kids with Judy. I did not get any pics (too tired), but when we were down there we also saw my dad's parents, and went to a big family dinner at an another uncle's house. It so great to have family that is close - in Spirit!
Of course EVERY time we go to Vegas we visit the M&M Store and Coke World. This year we were lucky enough to catch both mascots out and about!
To shorten the distance traveled, we stopped in Ceder City to visit with Brett's friend Luke and his wife Anna. The visit was a family favorite and we are thinking of going back sometime soon!
One of the things that the kids love to do is to buggy ride. Luke and Anna kind of live at the edge of town, so Brett and Luke can load the kids up and go 4 wheeling and ride in the dune buggy.
I love family vacations, but it is so nice to get back home to your own bed and some home cooked meals!

McKaleigh's Choir Concert

One of the electives McKaleigh took this year is choir. It has been really enjoyable for her, and we have often found her humming songs around the house. It's funny, but since joining choir, McKaleigh sings more hymns in church, has added musical movies to her Christmas list and seems to really be enjoying this journey. Here are a few pics from her last concert.

Friend B-day Party

Alex went to his first REAL friend b-day party today (usually us moms just say "lets meet at McDonalds for so and so's birthday, its easy that way)! The theme was a cowboy theme and of course it was the cutest ever. The mom made all of the boys "stick horses" and sent them home with bandanas and cowboy hats. Right now Alex is all about Bad Guys - meaning he loves Bad Guys! He wanted to be a Bad Guy for Halloween and so he will be Darth Vader - who actually turns out to be a Good Guy!...So there's hope! But I had to add that each of the little boys at the party got to give their stick horse a name and ours is Vader. Poor horse, even he has to play the p art of Bad Guy! We just love our little guy - for the Good Guy in him!
