Weight Loss Post

So I guess you can all tell what this post is about...No, I have not fallen off the wagon, and yes, I am happy to report that I have not put on the original 7 lbs that I have lost.  I need to be more diligent with my weight loss goals and posts, and I have been working really hard on maintaining that and not putting it right back on.  I am on track for another 5 in the near future.  Isn't there a saying that, slow and steady wins the race...or something like that?  I guess that's my body's motto, which is fine with me, as long as the numbers are not going up! So here's to another 5 - i'll let you know when I hit my mark, which will be really exciting!

July 4th 2012

This year 4th of July was different...it rained and was kind of chilly the WHOLE day!  We had planned, after many days of 100 degree weather, to hit the swimming pool, have a BBQ, and then light fireworks with Uncle Brian.  We still had a great time, but the plans changed.  We ended up lounging around for most of the day (the pool was closed because of the thunderstorms) and hoping that the rain would stop long enough for us to light some fireworks.  It did!  Uncle Brian worked at a fireworks stand and brought up a really great package of stuff to set off.  It was a pretty great evening of family time.

Here are the kids, Uncle Bri and  Dad getting ready to set up and bring the fireworks out to the driveway. We did some during the daylight (like parachute men, smoke bombs and worms and sparklers) and saved some for the evening.  During the firework intermission we played a few rounds of Dominion (our favorite game).
Colton lighting off snakes. They were really difficult to find this year.  After searching a few different stores and stands, we were able to secure a few packs of them.
Alex LOVES to light off and chase the parachute men fireworks.  Here he is with one of his guys.

Uncle Bri, taking it all in.  This year he brought us an awesome package from one of the stands he worked at.  We are hoping he does it again on the 24th of July so we can get some more quality fireworks from him.
Here is Alex after lighting off a favorite...smokebombs.  The kids like to mix fireworks so they light smokebombs and then the loud firecrackers so they go off together.
We must have scared this little guy out of hiding!  We found and I caught this little snake.  It really took me back to my childhood - out in the desert catching snakes and lizards all day.  (we released him in the field behind our house).
Watching the show.  Notice how wet the ground is?  It started really raining again about halfway through our evening firework show, but we managed to take cover in the garage.
Every year we go to the SL Bees game for either the 4th or 24th fireworks show after them game.  It is an amazing display and the kids all have fun watching the game and getting treats and snowies.  I love this tradition!
I am so grateful we live in a country where we have our independence.  I love our nation and the freedoms our families enjoy!
