Since we all got rained out at Tuahacan last year, we were all refunded our tickets and decided to do a quick reunion and meet up again for a play this year. It was decided that we would see Peter Pan and use the long weekend for a family reunion together. It was so much fun to all spend a few days together and watch all of the cousins playing. We took some hikes, did some swimming, ate way to much, played games and has a wonderful time - here are the pics to prove it!
Dan Myers woke us bright and early and suggested a hike to a lava cave and sand dunes. Some of us went along and some stayed behind and enjoyed a lazy morning.
Here is the lava cave behind us. We did not dare head in, because there were bats inside!
Some of the adults that braved the bat cave hike - and grandma who was waiting for us up on the ledge.
Grandma Cindy was a trooper and hiked with the minority up to the overlook on the red hills! Most of the kids were tired and just wanted to head back....
Until we got to the Dunes...then they took their shoes off and raced around, playing soccer and football.
We were all pretty tired when we got back from such a busy morning, so some pool time was just what was needed. There was a huge outdoor pool, but we commanded the indoor. It was just our family - which was wonderful (to be honest, I thing we were too loud and crazy for anyone else to really want to use the indoor!)
Here are a few of our Tuacahn pictures...We cleaned up pretty well!
And here we are...all 5 rows of us!
Sunday morning we decided to go on a hike to the Snow Canyon Petroglyphs. It was kind of a bucket list hike for me, but we never seem to get there. It looked pretty mild, and it was - up to the first set of drawings. A short and sweet hike, but not enough. Then Brett found out that there were four sites total! I was thrilled - the rest of the group, not so much. I think that the lack of trail markings and length made it less exciting for some in our group.
Here were the first set of markings
As we wound our way through the desert, past washes, slot canyons, in the sun looking for markers and more drawings we were getting pretty frustrated...Colton and Alex climbed inside of a cave and I back up against the slot canyon wall to take their picture and we were all surprised to find them on the walls behind us! Great find Colton and Alex - if they hadn't gone in that cave - I don't know that we would have found this bunch!
After getting back that afternoon, we spent some more time lounging at the pool, watching the cousins play night games and chatting. It was a whirlwind - for sure, but a great weekend and the beginning to a very busy Summer!
